Shear strength for 1/4" steel brace? If I use these to bold a flat 1/4" steel plate with 4 #8 holes to the side of a 2x8... what's the max sheer load I can put on this plate?
Thank you for your question. SPAX has published properties data on our website for the #8 MDF screw, detailed in our Technical Evaluation Report TER-No. 2010-02. However, please note that this data is specifically for wood-to-wood connections. Unfortunately, we do not have specific load values for steel side-plate applications, and therefore cannot provide a load value for this particular use case.

What size SPAX bit insert should be used with this #6 (MDF) screw? HD sold me a bit for #8, #9, and #10 sizes.
I'll answer my own Q: I just discovered the bit is included in the box of #6x 1-!/2" screws for MDF.
The #6 using a T-15+ bit which is included in the box. Thank you for being a SPAX customer.
