About This Product

Scotts EZ Seed Patch and Repair Sun and Shade is a revolutionary grass seeding product designed to fill in bare spots on your lawn. This Sun and Shade grass seed grows in tough conditions, including full sun, dense shade, high traffic areas and on slopes. Scotts EZ Seed Patch and Repair consists of high performance grass seed, continuous release lawn food, and super-absorbent growing mulch material. Scotts EZ Seed Patch and Repair Sun and Shade also includes a tackifier to help reduce seed wash-away and a protectant to help keep seedlings safe from harmful diseases. There are three easy steps to success: 1) prep the area by removing dead grass and loosening hard soil, 2) evenly apply EZ Seed so the area is mostly covered but bare ground is still visible, and 3) saturate with water until no more water is being absorbed and mulch turns dark brown. Plant seed in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55°F and 70°F, or air temperatures between 60°F and 80°F. For best results, keep kids, pets, and lawn mowers off newly planted seedlings until the grass is 3 inches high.

Cant see your pic, but, maybe avoid ANY rye seed. I think it comes in beautiful brilliant green, early in the Spring, faster than others. But faced with any heat - bye bye rye. Its a prolific seed producer, over and over

While we have not tested specifically for growing this grass in areas affected by cat urine, EZ Seed will initially grow in any soil type or location; whether it will establish for the long term depends upon the soil pH, the amount of sunlight the area receives and the make-up of the soil (i.e. turf grasses do not grow well in straight sand but the varieties used in our EZ Seed products should grow fine in a sandy soil (sand mixed with loam and clay)). Optimal pH for lawns ranges from 5.5 to 7.5; a soil test is the ONLY way to determine pH level so you may wish to perform such a test before you start seeding so you know if the soil pH needs to be addressed through additional products first to bring it in range for seeding. EZ Seed products require 4 hours of sunlight per day, minimum.

Customers say that Scotts EZ Seed Patch & Repair is easy to use and convenient, combining seed, fertilizer, and mulch in one product. Many users report quick germination and effective coverage for small patches, particularly in shaded areas. However, some customers experienced inconsistent results, with sparse growth in certain conditions despite following the instructions carefully. Overall, while the product is generally well-received for its ease of application, some users feel it may not provide the expected results for larger areas or under challenging conditions.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Ezseed Tall Fescue and appreciate your feedback. Different grasses germinate at different times. Germination times on label are based upon the grass type in the bag that will germinate the quickest. For Cool Season Grasses (Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and Fescue) Soil temperatures must be at least 55°F (+12.7°C) for grass seed to germinate. The warmer the soil, the faster the germination. This generally requires daytime temperatures consistently in the 65+°F (18.3°C) range for cool season grasses. In the spring it takes a lot of consistent warm temperatures to warm up the soil, especially in the northern states. Cool night-time temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Cold weather will delay germination but will not hurt the seed. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Limitations apply. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
This works so well, it’s ridiculous.
This works so well, it’s ridiculous. I put the centipede ez patch and repair out on Friday at 5pm and it’s Tuesday and I have tiny blades of grass already popping up!! Nice job on the awesome product! I thought growing grass was gonna be a long treacherous process! PLEASANTLY SURPRISED as I only tried it cause it was on sale!

                          SPOTTED SPURGE IN GRASS SEED
I have been using EZseed for many years now with no problems. The spots where I put the EZseed down this time has all Spotted Spurge weeds in it! The roots on those weeds are difficult to try to pull up. I hope the quality of their product is not wavering because I will have to switch to another brand.

                                Disappointed
Wish there was a zero star option. They guarantee it will grow anywhere. Can't even get it to grow in the best environment possible. I hand tilled the bare spots, put the seed down and waited. It was watered, the temp was never below 65, no foot traffic and in sunlight. Not even one blade of grass. Very disappointed.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Ezseed Tall Fescue and appreciate your feedback. A deep and thorough initial watering is the key to success. Make sure the ground is still visible when EZ Seed has been applied and saturate with water until no more water is being absorbed and mulch turns dark brown. When EZ Seed begins to turn light brown, it's time to water again. Continue to water daily as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall. This seed germinates best when daytime temperatures are between 60 and 80 degrees F. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. Easiest way to grow grass
I've tried many different products when it comes to growing grass, with varying results. The Scotts EZ Seed is far and away the best one. Consistently produces healthy, thick grass, usually mowable after 2-3 weeks. All you need to do is keep it wet. No need for straw or any additional fertilizer. Just make sure its consistently moist and the day time temps aren't much higher than 80 or lower than 60. It's expensive but well worth it.

                                    Not worth the money
I tried ez seed & patch 2weeks ago and still no results and was not satisfied. I followed the instructions loosen the ground with a hand tiler, spread the seed using a spreader over about 2" of fertilizer, and put ez-straw to cover It

After great bare batch results with my purchase I bought more… the results was a complete disappointment. Not one blade of new grass after more than a month, didn’t do anything different in preparation and the weather was suitable for growth. Purchased through Amazon so I don’t know how long it’s been sitting on the shelf if that’s an issue… after looking at the reviews it looks like I’m not the only one.
