About This Product

Grubs and other listed insects can do extensive damage to lawns by feeding on grass roots. Damaged turf turns brown and is easily pulled up by hand. Prevent turf damage with Scotts GrubEx1 Season Long Grub Killer. A single application of this granular insecticide can kill and prevent grubs for up to 4 months. This grub killer also kills caterpillars (armyworm), chinch bugs, May/June beetles, and more (as listed), and can help control Japanese beetle infestations when applied annually. Apply Scotts GrubEx1 Season Long Grub Killer to a dry lawn in the spring or early summer to kill grubs as they develop. We recommend using a Scotts spreader to apply this product. For Scotts broadcast/rotary spreaders, use a setting of 3 ½. For Scotts drop spreaders, use a setting of 5 ½. For Scotts Wizz, use a setting of 3 ¾. Water in thoroughly to activate. People and pets may re-enter the lawn after it has dried. The maximum number of applications for this product is one per year. This bundle includes two 5,000 sq. ft. bags of Scotts GrubEx1 Season Long Grub Killer, covering a total of 10,000 sq. ft.

I use Grubex annually and have never had grubs. I typically apply it early as the grubs tend to resurface early when we have a mild winter.

              Failed Product Two Years Running
As a loyal Scott's customer for the past 10 years I have decided to write my first review. This product has failed me now for two consective years. I have followed the application instructions exactly as instructed. I thought maybe last year I had a grub problem because I aerated my yard leaving multiple holes for the Japanese Beatles to enter. I did not irrigate this year and my problem is even worse. I will no longer trust this product and honestly I will purchase different fertilizer brands in the future. Scott's prices plus smaller bag sizes (4k from 5k sq ft) is no longer cutting it. I am disappointed as I wanted to be a long term Scott's customer as I live in Central Ohio, but it is time to move on.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Grubex1 and appreciate your feedback. If the thatch is more than ½ inch thick, and a dense, compacted layer is present, your chances of grub control are rather slim. Control products get trapped in dense thatch layers. If the active ingredient cannot reach the soil/root layer where the grubs are actively feeding, they will not be effective. Although grubs are near the surface from April-early October, they are at their most destructive stage from July-September. During this time, the eggs are hatching, and the voracious young grubs are actively feeding on grass roots. It is also during this time that the grubs are most susceptible to insecticides. Their active eating habits may increase their consumption of control products. Also, the smaller the grub, the easier it is to control with an effective grub control product. Since timing is so critical, we recommend that you contact your County Extension Agent for the timing of grub hatch in your area. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
                Absolute crap
I bought an overpriced bag of Scott’s Grubex and applied it to my lawn at the recommended setting as it states on the bag. This was in late June. I continued to see dry patches in my lawn and after 2 weeks I noticed that I still had live grubs. I reapplied using a larger setting to drop more Grubex and after 6 weeks I noticed I still had grubs. What a horrible product. Never buy this crap

                  Did not work
Last Fall I had terrible grubs so this year I applied GrubX in March. Came outside today (Sept) to find a big section of lawn destroyed. GrubX does NOT last all season! Do I need to reapply?

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Grubex Season Long Grub Killer and appreciate your feedback. This product has a 4 month residual. For best results it should be applied close to the time that grubs will be hatching. For most of the Northern states we recommend a mid-May through June application. Southern states may be slightly earlier. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
                    No good stuff
2nd application this year. Last was heavy and grubs are still thriving. Really good stuff, lol. Got to find something better.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Grubex1 Season Long Grub Killer and appreciate your feedback. Larger (mature) grubs are harder to control and resistant to most controls on the market. Apply Grubex as a preventative in Spring or early Summer before damage is present, once damage is noticed it is too late. The active ingredient needs watered into the soil. Entire lawn must be treated for complete control. Application to water-logged lawn prevents product from getting into root zone. Heavy thatch can prevent the product from penetrating the soil. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
Do not believe in the product any longer
Purchased 1 bag in April 2024. Another bag in July 2024. Had the same issue last year also. Tired of repatching my yard. I have always used Scotts products. No more

I put this product down for last few years in June and has done nothing! Have to replant lawn every year in my back yard! Know they are grubs because I see tons of lady bugs in my pool every year! Just throw my money away! Done with this!
