Are these suitable for yard waste?

Answer This Question

Yes. I have a garden maintenance business and use these to dispose of the yard debris. I like these because they're slightly thicker than the other sizes.

I have a 32 gallon rolling composting bin. I want this to line my bin so that every so often as I dump fresh compost in from the kitchen it will keep my bin clean until once every two weeks when the trash guys take it away. My question is will this stay in place to line my bin (just like typical kitchen trash bags do in my kitchen) The bin is rectangular and measures 17 x 18 x 33. I would prefer that the outer edges of the top of the bag attach and stay in place at the top of the bin.

    Answer This Question

Sorry this is a year after you posted, but I am in the same situation and needing a refill and came across your question. We have a 32 gallon rolling composting bin too, with the same dimensions you describe (17 x 18 x 33). These bags are not wide enough to stay in place to line the bin as the bag does not open wide enough for the 17x18 opening. You have to stretch the bag and then it can hang over the lip of the bin, but it is tight and prone to tearing. Because this is the liner to our main bin, and we're putting small compost bags from the kitchen into the main bin, it's not too problematic, but if you have a 32 gallon bin filled with debris, your liner will come off under the weight. As a workaround, we use small binder clips to keep the bag in place. That's good enough for our needs but we have to remember to unclip before garbage day. I've attached a picture for reference. I will likely refill my supply with a slightly bigger bag (35 gallon or so) so the bag opening drapes over the bin. Hope this helps.

Are the 30 gallon bags attached to one another on the roll and perforated? Or are they pre-cut / separate from one another?
      ByMar 9, 2019
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

They are attached in a roll with perforations. You must tear each off carefully or you might tear the bag. They are light and thin so you have to handle carefully. I have torn one or two by accident. My bags are clear/transparent and appear different from one in photo. I have bags similar to above but they are not compostable.

are the bags biodegradable and how many weeks or month does it take ?

Depending on what you put into them initiates how fast they compost. Wet, acidic things hasten decomposition of the bags. Used, wet kitty litter begins decomposition of the bag quickly, as an example.

Summarized by generative AI from text of customer reviews

Customers say the compostable bags are a great eco-friendly option, offering good value and timely delivery. Many appreciate their size and ability to hold a fair amount of compostable material, although some users noted that the bags can be thin and prone to tearing if overfilled or handled roughly. Overall, while there are concerns about durability, especially with heavier loads, many customers find them satisfactory for regular use in yard waste management.

These bags seem pretty sturdy. They hold up a week in my compostables bin, until I can get them into my garbage hauler’s organics cart. I don’t put too much wet stuff into these bags, so haven’t really pushed the limits. I will likely buy these again

                Junk
These bags are absolute JUNK. When you try to pull them apart at the seam between two bags, the bag rips. When you try to put them in a bucket to make it easier to sweep the leaves in the bag, the bag rips. I will be returning these to the store if I can find my receipt. If not, maybe I'll just pitch them. A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.
