Thank you for asking. We recommend that the respirator masks be replaced when they are dirty, damaged, and/or difficult to breathe through.

In response to DOGLADY's answer. The CDC does know which mask can possibly prevent the virus. Why would they plea for the public not to use N95? As they said the mask are needed for the caregivers. Because they say, there is a shortage if your not sick, don't use a mask. Only if you are sick! It's crazy and conflicting a message to tell this to the public. People who are out in public coughing and sneezing and not responsible are not going to shield their germs, as these people never use their arm as a shield anyway. Anything is better than nothing, in trying to prevent the virus fluids from being inhaled into the lungs. This virus attacks the lungs. In my opinion it makes sense to also protect the eyes.

Probably not. While any mask would provide some level of protection, the N95 non-valved mask would provide better protection. Taking preventive measures like washing your hands, not touching your face, etc., can go a long way. Here are 3M links about the types of masks and their response to the coronavirus: https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/1791526O/respiratory-protection-faq-general-public-tb.pdf?utm_term=sibg-psd-na-en_us-ba-brand-osm-twt-na-learn-photocard-jan20-na https://news.3m.com/blog/3m-stories/3m-responds-2019-novel-coronavirus?utm_term=corp-brd-en_us-ba-brand-osm-twt-na-learn-photocard-jan20-na

While any N95 rated mask can help protect you from contracting the virus, valved masks are a poor choice from a public health perspective. The reason why is that unless you know with absolute certainty that you are not infected (multiple negative test results), the mask does little stop an infected person from spreading the virus. This has to do with the mask being designed to not restrict airflow when one exhales. When paired with there being proof that one can carry/spread the virus without showing symptoms, valved masks should be the last choice in this case.

Yes I believe because paint fumes are molecules and a virus is biological which is made up of millions of molecules constructed into cells which further assemble into the virus which is much larger than molecules.

The CDC says a p95 is effective at stopping viruses.

I would say it would be difficult to breath through for any extended period of time. I use it when I clean with bleach or other chemicals. I do not think it would it would stop the spread of coronavirus. You could contact 3M and see if they have any suggestions. Thank you for asking. I have asthma and I wear it to protect my lungs from chemicals.

It is not at all clear that masks in general can completely prevent one from getting the coronavirus but in our research we found this to be one of the best masks for the job. We spent a week with a large ground of Mainland Chinese friends on high alert because of the virus and using the mask seemed to help.

Im not an expert, but from the research I have been doing because the mask is allegedly should be highly effective against the coronovirus because it is rated P95 which means it has a 95% filtration effiency against air particles including particles in oil. It is also the only paper/plastic mask respirator that has a shelf life of 40 hrs, or 30 day service life (depending on which one happens first). The other paper/plastic respirators, like the N95 & R95, have 8hrs of shelf life. I received excellent information from this website. https://www.majorsafety.com/blogs/news/whats-the-difference-between-an-n95-and-r95-respirator and this YouTube video https://youtu.be/Ihd9PS7bZV4

No one, not even the CDC actually knows the answer!! That's why this virus is spreading so fast across the globe! If you cover your nose & mouth with a mask, what's protecting your eyes, ears, hair, skin or clothing from getting these super germs? It will keep YOU from touching your nose & mouth...

                        By|Mar 14, 2020

I spoke to someone in NJ who sells "melt blown fabric" for use in making masks and he said that 95% is not enough for Corona virus...it must be 99%! Very special materials are used for that.

It will cut the odor down but I cant say if it will shield your lungs. I use these are bleach and I dont smell the odor.

This is only good for short term use only. Pay the extra for larger filters for long term use and dont forget your eyes also absorb contaminates.

It will eliminate the odor not the toxic fumes though. You’d need an oxygen mask if you need to work in heavy exhaust fumes for whatever reason. Keep in mind CO2 is odorless too

Absolutely not! I used it to paint with Kilz, and the fumes seeped through! Buy something better.

No, the only protection from exhaust fumes is adequate ventilation. You should avoid running engines inside, at all costs. Find an alternative electric tool, if it cannot be avoided, you should consult with a professional on how many cubic feet per minute you need to be exchanging with fresh air.

The normal package you would purchase contains 2 masks. A case contains 6 packages of 2 masks each for a total of 12 masks. We normally purchase a 2 mask package as the price difference between the 2 and the 12 are almost the same. A 2 mask package costs $8, or $4 per mask. The case of 6 (12 masks) costs $50 or $4.16 per mask. Taxes are not included.
