Q:Installation manual? It's not listed on the site and I can't find it anywhere online. Wondering how to seal top of box so it is water/rain proof (plugs do not seal, may need to caulk)

A: Place silicone on the threaded plug and insert it. If you are looking for a weatherproof box I would suggest Red Dot 1 gang GFCI: Model# S355P

A: Screw the plug in all the way, then put a little silicone sealer on your finger and go around the edges of the hole. You don't want the silicone on the main part of the threads, just the very top. Then if you ever have to remove the plug, it's simple to cut the thin layer of sealent at the top and unscrew it.

A: I have always used a little silicon on the threads of the plugs or turned the box sideways if possible.

A: Hi Steve, add silicon to the plugs when you install the box. When dry, you can add some over the outside of the plug as well.

Q:What is the correct cover that fits this box and why isn't it offered together?
by|Mar 15, 2022

Answer This Question
A: Depends on what you will use the box for. Is it a switch, outlet or junction? Also is it indoor or outdoor. This is also why the covers are not sold together.

A: Look for a 1-gang plate and it will fit. Why isn't it offered together - different needs. I've used some with weatherproof covers (landscape lighting) and some with an electrical outlet. If I'm putting in either of those, I don't want a nylon plate
by|Mar 16, 2022
A: It has been my experience that any weather proof cover will fit this box. The two specific covers (most common) are out door covers designed to be used outdoors but not in the rain. The other most common cover has a large plastic cover that allows the cover to be closed while the electric cord is plugged in. I.E. Suitable for use during a rain storm.

A: Hi sigh, there are many covers that can be used with that box depending on what the application is. Do can use a blank cover, flat device cover, In-use cover or a lighting cover. There are kits that have the box, cover and device as well like home depot SKU 602674 or 602679.

A: Several covers are available, depending in use. For example, a single-gang switch has a unique opening, as does a duplex outlet. And then sometimes you want a blank cover. That's why they are sold separately. On type does not fit all.

Answer This Question
A: I was able to drill holes in the back quite easily.
by|Feb 6, 2022
A: Yes you can drill the back to Mount but the threaded holes are set up for connectors and are what they are.
by|Jul 23, 2022
A: It depends on what size holes you want to drill.
by|Jul 23, 2022
A: Hi blah2u, the product is not meant to be drilled in different location due to the thickness of the wall of the back of the box. The current area for the screws is thicker to be able to handle the mounting screws.

A: The screws are NOT, repeat NOT, 6-32 as claimed by customer service. I wasted a trip to HD to buy some and 6-32 just slides right in through the threads.
I now have to make another trip to HD to test if its 8-32 or larger.

Q:Can the fixture mounting plate be turned inside the box so the holes become side entry?

Answer This Question
A: Hi Mike, the product was not tested for inverted application. You would need to make sure the cover seals if you installed the cover that way. I would think the mounting plate and screw bosses would be in the way.
