A:  Looks like latex. Should accept any paint. I used it for crown molding. Typically a sample jar size of paint is all you will need.

A:  You could call HD but I’m pretty sure you have to get the 8ft and if you do it in store they can cut once fo r free

A:  You will have to buy an 8 foot piece of this moulding. I would call your local store to see if they will cut the piece for you when you pick it up at the store (choose ship-to-store for pickup when you order it online).

I have seen other models of baseboard molding that can be installed over existing molding. Search for one that is L-shaped on the back.
