A: To open the key box, you must push down and slide the door to open.
A: Hello Cari and thank you for your inquiry. You will need to squeeze the grooves on the side, hard while sliding door down with your thumb. It is made to be difficult to open so the key does not fall out.
A: It depends on the size of the fob. It will hold a small to med one
A: Your "fob" key holder (for LARGER fobs) would work IF it were 1/4" longer. I am in desperate need of one that my fob will fit. I am leaving on a 3,000 mile trip by myself and need one that will hold my spare fob underneath the car. Of course, it needs to have a good magnet. Before getting this newer vehicle, I have used you Hillman Magnetic Key Box for 20+ years & never once had any trouble. Sometimes hard to open but would rather that be than having in fall off the vehicle. I can always figure out how to get it open. If you folks don't have my needed size and you offer me any ideas of how to find what I need. Surely there are other folks in my same boat and would like to have your box if only you could manufacture them with just a quarter inch added. The current box is plenty wide enough. It just needs that 1/4" added to the length. Thank you in advance for any information and help that you can provide to me.
A: NO
A: Maybe a very small fob.
A: Hi and thank you for your inquiry. We apologize we do not recommend this item holding a key fob.
A: That I don’t know, I do know a full size Ford key fits in it. The key with the black top
A: This particular key box is 3 and a quarter inch x an inch and 3/4... that's pretty big I get about three keys in it... car key house key and mailbox key... Selma little room left over so if you're looking for a three and a half half inch it's going to be too small...
A: find one in the store and try the key
A: key doesn’t even fit
A: Thank you for your interest in Hillman products! At this time, this is the longest magnetic key box that we distribute.
A: On the Vehicle chassis... It's a great place for hidden car keys...!
A: Hi and thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately we are not able to provide an answer for you, this information depends on the make and model of your vehicle.
A: Well under a back, outer fender
A: Yes. Put it on top of the frame. I have one on my Nissan SUV
A: By the place where they make keys
A: Hi Rick, and thank you for your inquiry. I apologize I do not know where this product is located. It may be located with the keys. Please contact your local Home Depot to find the exact location.
A: At the key cutting and key supply area.
A: The area where the cut keys.
A: where keys are made
A: Yes, you can use this key box on the exterior metal on a car.
A: Hi Muddy and thank you for your inquiry. Yes this will work on the exterior metal, however it is not recommended.
A: Yes
A: It's got to go on the exterior. It wouldn't do you any good in the interior, trunk or under locked hood. It's easy to find a secure area on a truck since most have separate steel frames with flanges & openings. Cars & crossovers have unibodies & a lot of plastic underneath so you have to look carefully for a steel or iron area, preferably with an opening or lip etc. Just sticking it on the underside in the open will get the box knocked or jounced off.
A: Yes... but it wouldn't be hidden..!
A: yes
A: No clue, maybe measure your key and look at the specs of the box?
A: Very strong. I've used two for 3 or 4 years each, and they have never come loose or dropped off. The problem is getting them open so you can get the key out. Plan on using a knife blade cause your fingers won't work!
A: I've seen a test on youtube that showed it will hold 5-10#. This assumes you put it on a flat surface.
A: Very. I was surprised?
A: really strong. never falls off bumper
A: There are two differently-sized magnets, about 3/8" x 1 1/4" and 1/4" x 1". See photo (from another web site). Given their positions, the case is capable of holding onto a flat surface IF BOTH MAGNETS ARE USED. That is, it really must be a flat metal surface over the entire size of the case. I have compared this to a competitor's having one larger, centered magnet, and found this to be better -- again, given the correct mounting. One caveat is the size of the key holder. I have a Ford Transit, which has the large chip-type key (expensive). I did not want to store a remote key type under the van (fearing battery leakage in it), so I had to buy a basic non-wireless key, about $110. It barely fits : I had to literally jam it in. A remote-type key (for my vehicle) definitely would not fit.
How can we help?
