They are enzymes that come from useful bacteria. Enzymes are proteins that speed up chemical reactions. In this case, they speed up the breakdown of toilet paper and feces to help maintain your septic system.

I have a aerobic septic system. Right now, we use Pro Chlor Tabs and drop them down the tube outside. Does this product replace the tabs?

It does not sound like the two products are compatible. Zep Septi-Paks are comprised of bacteria and enzymes to assist with the health of the actual septic tank. They do not contain chlorine. If used in conjunction with chlorine it would render the formula ineffective.
