The job was finished well ahead of the originally indicated date. The installers did a great job.

1. The process began with calling a toll free number to pay $50 and set up a measurement appointment. I was asked to provide a "secondary" number which I did. All later phone calls were directed to that number later. 2. After the measurement I was told that someone would give me a quote within 24 hours which never happened. 3. I called a lot of numbers trying to get Home Depot going. I got a few very defensive Home Depot employees claiming things they never did including sending me an email. An email finally came after I ended my hunt. 4. After reviewing the email quote, I called the toll free number to clarify a few things and placed the order. I was hung up twice before I even had a chance to finish my question. I was able to get through the 3rd time by asking to speak with a supervisor right at the beginning. 5. Per Home Depot instruction I called back a few days later to set up an installation. I got as surprisingly long lead time. With the effort of local Home Depot employee (Hillsboro, OR) and installer the carpet was installed earlier than the original date. I think one big problem Home Depot has is, it is hard for employees on the other side to understand the carpet installation business like its flooring specialist in the local store who also has better sense of urgency. 6. I got a $400 discount. Overall the carpet was installed with a good price - it's a good deal.

We ordered vinyl flooring for our bathroom remodel. When we ordered the vinyl, we were told it could take 4-6 weeks for the installation, including receipt of the vinyl and scheduling the installation. Approximately 4 weeks after ordering, we were contacted by the installation contractor to schedule the installation. On the day the vinyl was to be installed, the installer called to say he could not find my vinyl order at Home Depot. Home Depot then called to ask me why an installer was there, as they had no record of my order. I provided the order number and they found they had somehow never actually placed the order with the supplier. The order was re-submitted and the vinyl was installed 15 days later. The installer arrived an hour later than promised, but did a good job on the installation. However, when he arrived, he backed into my brick mailbox and completely destroyed it. After spending considerable time getting bids for replacement and dealing with insurance, my mailbox will finally be replaced this weekend, six weeks after the accident. I stopped to speak to the Home Depot store manager, but could only speak to an assistant manager. He seemed either disinterested or unable to provide any compensation for the hassle and delays. As a result, you can be assured I will never again use Home Depot services.

Not enough carpet ordered in the first ordered and HD made us buy more to finish the job. Carpet was damaged in shipment. Second order was delayed in shipment. Third order, HD ordered the wrong carpet and when it arrived it wasn't even the carpet that HD ordered. Installers had to cancel installation on morning of install. Wrong carpet arrived. Carpet not installed per specs. Mess left at home following installation. Compensated 10% for all the errors, delays, etc. Should have received at least 50% off. Really was a mess honestly. Like the carpet, but wasn't worth all the hassle.
