If I were to summarize my Home Depot services into a single sentence I would say it's - Over promise, under deliver. Summary of issues that occurred during my window replacement project - 1) Consultant assured me that they would be able to get the project complete for a single window replacement within my time frame. The project was completed over a month late. 2) Zero communication from my consultant or install manager regarding the delay in time. 3) I call the installation manager regarding the delay, they attempt to pass blame to the HOA and once proved they were wrong and had approval within 2 days of the consultant finalizing the down payment they owned to their mistake. 4) Install Manager and I confirm an install date of 11/30/2018. He confirms that his technician should be available around 9-10AM. Installer never shows, I receive a call from the Home Depot call center asking how satisfied with my project being complete at 11AM PST and inform them that nobody has showed up yet. They then confirm that the installer will be there at 2PM. I was never proactively notified about the change in install time. 5) I wait until 2PM, installer doesn't show up until 2:30PM. Overall there are a lot of broken processes within Home Depot professional services that need to be addressed. I am happy to have tried Home Depot on a simple project like a Window before providing Home Depot an opportunity to bid on larger projects that I have. My confidence in Home Depot's ability to deliver is very low. Hopefully this can be fixed sooner rather than later.

We signed the contract in early August and measuring was done the third week of August and October 10 manufacture needed some changes but we did not get our windows installed until November 20 and 21 with some detail work November 26. The home is in a cold climate area and the windows were in terrible shape. Some held in by duct tape so getting them quickly was imperative. They were supposed to be installed by November 9 according to contract. I am not happy with the long wait in very cold weather.

Six weeks prior to the agreed upon installation date, my husband and I arranged our schedule for that time so the installer would not have to work more than the required time ( 1 day). Mid morning of the agreed upon date (09-17-2018) we were called and told the windows would not be installed. We had already paid the full amount for the five (5) windows. No other date was given us for the installation. After letting Home Depot know that if the windows were not installed by Friday the 21st of Sept. we would go to the store in Bend and demand that all our monies paid be refunded. Several days later we were informed that the contractor would be out on Friday the 21st to install the windows. No apology was given by Home Depot, only by the hired contractor who informed us that he had been in Salem working on a project there and that he had not been told that someone had booked him for both jobs to be done at the same time. This is the second time Home Depot has fallen down on the job and we will be taking our business else where in the future.

The installer damage the interior trim while removing the old window. He promised to come back with new trim piece the next day, and has NOT done so. The installation date was 8/16/2018 and today is 8/29/30. Please advice on what I need to do.

Poor service. The installer was late, slow and nothing was ever his fault. He would be scheduled for a time and was always late - often hours late. The install of 5 windows took about 7 months to complete. The estimate did not include the needed trim work which added even more time to the job. I am most disappointed with the work done. However the computer was right on time telling me payment was due at completion of job! I requested an itemized invoice and that was not given to me - just the total amount due. And that was not released until payment was cleared!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can replacing my windows lower my heating and cooling costs?
Upgrading your windows will always lower your heating and cooling costs. Modern high-quality windows feature thick, insulated glass, making them more energy efficient than older ones made with single-pane glass. Our Deschutes County Home Depot contractors can show you a variety of ENERGY STAR®-qualified window glass options designed to help save you money while protecting the environment.
Can you explain the difference between aluminum, vinyl, and wood windows?
Aluminum window frames combine contemporary style with the strength to stand up against extreme temperatures. Vinyl window frames, which typically contain PVC, combine ultraviolet protection against the sun, water resistance, and easy maintenance. Wooden window frames will not stick due to expansion and contraction. However, wood is harder to maintain, with susceptibility to both rot and weathering.
What happens during my free in-home consultation with The Home Depot?
During your free window replacement in-home consultation, a project specialist from The Home Depot will gather professional measurements, show you window samples from industry-leading brands, and give you a project quote. We'll be able to calculate your potential energy savings, including the increased home value you can expect from your new windows. The specialist will also help you envision different window options in your home with our innovative 3D digital design tool.
How can I prepare for an in-home consultation for window replacement?
Before your in-home window installation consultation, please secure your pets while making the area around your windows clean and accessible so we can take accurate measurements.
Where can I buy replacement windows?
