This store has some nice employees and helpful management but there are also employees that practice racial profiling of customers. This is a serious problem and nobody seems to care. This has to stop.

I recently purchased a $6,300 shed, and noticed that my 10% military discount was not applied (about a week later). I went to the store on 16May20 (around 1300) and was told they could only give me $50 max b/c that was the store policy. I asked the customer service personnel and assistant manager to show me the policy and they could not produce it. The customer service rep then called corporate and they told her that the policy was 10%, and that the policy didn’t state anything about a $50 cap. Even after corporate told the representative, she said there was nothing she could do, so I asked to speak to the store manager. The store manager approached me and I explained the situation to her and told she told me that the max was $50. I asked to see the policy and she too could not produce the policy. She even stated “I’ve never had a military person question this before.” She left and after 10-15 minutes came back with a document that stated there was a cap of $50. I asked if I could see the document, and she said no. I then asked if I could have a copy of the document and she said no again. I asked her what the date on the document was and she told me 2019. I then told her that she needed to ensure that her assistant manager needed to know this b/c she told me the policy went into effect in 2016. Even after I told the store manager that we (the HD customer service rep and I) had already talked to corporate and they noted the policy was 10%, she did not care. She then asked me what my issue was with the $50 military discount. At that point, I realized I was not going to make any progress with her. When I told the store manager that she was losing a VERY loyal customer who spent A LOT of money at her store, she said "that was fine." I then left. Nowhere is this cap of $50 posted anywhere (online or within the store). If that where the case, I would’ve bought my shed from Lowes. Everywhere I have searched online and, in the store, notes that the military discount is 10%. There is no fine print. *** I’m also very concerned that a store manager would not care that a customer who frequently spends $15-$20,000 a year would allow the customer to just walk away.

Not real helpful to women. Was told I should be able to pick up 15 sheets of board then load it on my truck.

The store associate was extremely rude and refused to call for floor assistance. Even though she was not busy, she did not offer to make a set of keys for me at the time of my visit.

Incompetent employees.

My online order was not delivered when scheduled. I was home all day waiting for the order to finish a project. No call, no communication at all. I tried the HD 800 number that same day but was put on hold for 30 minutes before I finally gave up. When I called the store the following day, I was put on hold again for a very long time. The HD Customer Service associate told me they did not know what happened. I asked when my material would arrive and was told that the new delivery date was "unknown", but likely the next week. I cancelled and ordered from a competitor.

We had to go to customer service to purchase an item not sold at the store. Tracey was so helpful in helping our order & transaction run smoothly. Also, the store has made sure customers & employees feel safe during the COVID-19 situation.

We ordered carpet from this location. Carol was AWESOME helping us pick out the carpet that would be the best fit for us and our budget. We cannot wait for it to be installed!

Very pleased with all aspects of the store

The associate in the flooring department was extremely helpful and polite.

Went to the store to look for an air compressor. Could not find one I liked there. Found one online that I wished to purchase. Found an associate to order it. This whole process to over an hour to do. We first asked about using our military discount and was told no because we where ordering from online. I was standing in the store not at home. Then I stated about using gift cards I had received for multiple payment options. Was told that could be done. Then when we started to check out. It did not work. They took my money from my gift card and now I am waiting for 3-7 days to get my refund. They have policies dont follow them and then the associates don't know how to apply payments or work the computer system. The person called for someone to help him with the coumputer system twice. This was by far one of the worst transactions I have had with Home Depot.

Like most stores, you have to be there at the right hours of the day to find the best help and nicest people. Always a few that make the shopping experience bad. However, most will know the location of the item you need pretty well. Sometimes the employee is rude and mean, and other ones are very nice and helpful. The same in most any store. But for the store itself, items are laid out in logical order and relatively easy to find. Not very congested and easy to relax while making purchase decisions. The checkout has gone downhill since the original self-checkout machines were removed. They worked fast and took cash. The new ones are like computer screens (with cameras) that wont take cash and don't work very well. To avoid these new machines, you will need to wait in the regular register line, but sometimes no one is working. So that is when I decide to not purchase anything today.

Cashier Yadira was super sweet after having a rather rude, angry customer before me. He was very unkind and unfair and just plain ugly to her for no reason I could determine and she responded with grace and dignity. I was glad to see someone who had been treated so poorly be so gracious in return. You go girl!!

The customer service in this store has really improved. There was a time you couldn't find anyone to help you.

Staff is engaged and committed to making sure you not only purchase the right item but that you are satisfied after your purchase.

Great customer service in the garden center! Spencer, in particular, was super in helping me pick out a Christmas tree and making sure it was cut properly and in my car.

Home Depot 4622 is a great place to shop. We are always greeted and treated by friendly and efficient associates. This is our go-to HD store in Hampton Roads. Keep up the awesome work and Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to 4622!
