After several years of searching for the perfect washer and dryer, my husband and I thought we'd found the perfect set, at the perfect price! We bought it, took it home. Removed the old washer and dryer. Then, installed the new dryer. I had to go under the house to hook up the vent. Press the power button, and of course I do a little dance, because I'm super excited!!! Then, we hooked up the washer. It was admittedly a pain moving in the super heavy new washer especially. We plugged it in, pressed the on button and nothing happens. We tested the outlet and it's getting power, the washer is just not working. My husband spends the next 30 minutes looking over the washer while I get on the phone with Home Depot. The department guy has left for the day, and I'm told I can call back at a more convenient time for Home Depot... I asked to speak to a manager instead. Because this. THIS is unacceptable. Selling me a defective product and sticking me with it. Sticking me with no way to wash clothes. Hmmm, yeah, no. Big nope there Bob. So the manager was very nice, and tried to help. She told me to call the Maytag technical support. Hmm, again I shouldn't have to do that. I did it though. Guess what they said. NOTHING. That's right, I guess 5 pm on a Sunday isn't convenient for them either. So I call the manager back and ask if we can just have one shipped or pull one from another store. She is very nice and seems to want to help. I'm on hold a while, so she can explore all of the options. She says there's multiple issues. First, if we order online and ship it, it would take over a month to get it delivered, plus the price would be almost double! Hmm, she can't control either of these things, and no one can it's "the manufacturers" issue since they would order straight from them. Super professional to blame your issues on someone else. I don't care who's to blame, just fix the issues at hand. Second issue, since this item was on clearance, none of the other stores had the washer in stock. She said she would look in her store to find something "comparable". Comparable to the "perfect" washer and dryer set that I've been searching for a few years? Hmm, nothing else caught my eye, plus I would have to PAY EXTRA money for a "comparable" washer and dryer set!!! Really? It's not even what I want. The store made a mistake and sold a defective product, and I PAY for it? Hmmff. We realized returning the items is the only action we can effectively take, since there is no solution offered by the company. Jen the manager says she would expedite our return so we wouldn't have any issues. We unhooked the washer and dryer, & carried out the heavy appliances. I went inside immediately when we got back to the store. At the service desk the cashier was expecting me. I waited for someone to come unload the truck for 20 minutes, maybe more. Then, finally out comes an older woman, and a young man to unload two heavy appliances??? The woman doesn't even, attempt to heave or hoe. My HUSBAND had to unload the appliances. A second man appeared just as 90% of the heavy lifting was already completed. Oh yeah, thanks a lot Bob. Hmmff. Not impressed. At the service desk, I'm given three options, return my money to my debit card, a check, or HAHAHA get this a GIFT CARD for Home depot! Lol. Like I'll be shopping there anytime soon, right? So I choose to put it back on my debit card. AFTER the transaction is finished, then the cashier lets me know I won't actually receive my money until 2-3 business days. WHAT? I worked all day to test out your floor model, spent my time, my money, my gas, and now you're going to "hang" on to MY money like a loan? You instantly took my money at the register when I bought the washer and dryer set, but now when I return it, I have to wait? Hunny, no. Interest rates apply... Customer service is all about finding solutions. If I were you, I'd count this as a gigantic fail. You've lost long time friends, and customers. By the time we got home, we were too tired to hook the old washer and dryer back up. So instead of using my brand new gorgeous washer & dryer, I can't even wash clothes. I'm not excited, & I'm not dancing. Most of all, I'm not buying any appliances from Home Depot ever again, unless someone, somehow, can find an acceptable solution!

The associate up-sold me a part she thought the delivery guys would need for installation... they don't install after all. The delivery company provided a 4-hour window for delivery, called the day of delivery and said they were 5 minutes away and never showed. The phone number provided in the store for the delivery service sends you into an endless cycle of automated responses.. none of which resolve your issue. Apparently the store sub-contracts to a vendor who in turn sub-contracts to another vendor for deliveries. The delivery service was undependable, difficult to contact, lacked adequate communication skills/protocols, and all-in-all made the in-store experience less memorable. Again, store associates were great... delivery service experience was terrible.
