The Home Depot Rental Center at Katy

When it's time to make the leap into a home improvement job, you might not have the specialty tools you need in the garage or shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Katy.

Tool Rental
Our tool rental choices enlarge your toolbox with the precise tools you require to complete your project. It's impractical to invest in a specific tool when you're not using it often. When you're searching for a new tool, try it out first before you decide which one to purchase. Whatever your situation, we have just what you're looking for.

Rent Floor Sanders, Shop Vacuums, Post Hole Diggers, and More
Tackle serious jobs with reliable power tools. Take your scuffed wooden floor to the next level with a floor sander rental and a wet/dry vacuum rental to get the floors smooth and ready for refinishing. Construct a new fence around your home faster with a post hole digger rental, then utilize other concrete tools to securely set your fence posts.

Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Paint Sprayers
Beautiful spring days are a great time to tackle outdoor painting projects. Renew surfaces with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you need scaffolding rentals for painting a shed or house, or rental ladders for painting fences, or a paint sprayer rental for professional coverage, we have what you need.

Truck and Cargo Van Rentals
For large equipment rentals, we keep trucks of all kinds ready to roll. Although availability varies by store, we've got a selection ranging from flatbeds to cargo vans to pickup trucks. Choose the right size for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for DIY and storage projects, it's smart to make us your go-to source for truck rental as well.

Box Truck and Penske Moving Truck Rentals
If it's time to move to a new home, we can help with that as well. Explore our rental box trucks. We also offer Penske moving trucks in sizes ranging from 12-feet to 26-feet, but as always, availability varies from store to store. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings — from everything in a college dorm to the contents of a 4-bedroom house. Penske moving trucks have different rental requirements and sizes than our box trucks, so check out our FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to ensure you find the right rental truck for you.

Large Equipment Rentals
Complete massive projects with the right professional power equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're calling out popular truck, large equipment, and tool rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you've got a particular item in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent a truck, tool, or piece of large equipment?

Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck, tool, or large equipment. You may also visit our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is at your store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read the Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.

How long can I rent tools or large equipment?

You can rent a tool or large equipment for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY jobs may only require a short rental period, and long-term projects aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent large equipment and tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.

When can I bring the tools back?

You can return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call your rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.

Can I rent a truck for a few hours?

Rent a box truck, cargo van, or pickup truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Remember to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract before selecting a truck.

Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?

Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Make a note of the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that level. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Can I rent large equipment or a truck with only a driver's license?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Select tools as well as large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

Do I need to pick up my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment dropped off at your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the ideal way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?

Treat your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure you obey traffic laws and it's parked legally. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
