Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with thunderstorms, snowstorms or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperatures swings and storms by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in any crevices, you could headed for major repairs later. On the outside of your home, examine roofing shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Check cinder block and brick for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, change out chimney caps and vinyl siding if they're damaged.
What benefits do doorbell cameras have?
Enjoy peace of mind, privacy, and safety with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through a nearby window or peephole when you can watch visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
