Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store reduced energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

Cushion any and all items with moving blankets and bubble cushion to ensure your belongings make it there safely. Look into our moving truck rentals, too, and take care of your DIY move needs in one place.
Why should I get a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements knock it out. When browsing generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows.
Should I make siding repairs now?
Make sure your home is ready for spring temperatures swings and storms by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check bricks and cinder blocks for cracks. Indoors, ensure ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be replaced if they're damaged.
Do you have doorbell cameras?
Enjoy peace of mind, safety, and privacy with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through a window or peephole when you can watch animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible and easy accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
