Tool Rental
Begin your next home improvement project with confidence and the best tools. Let The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Midlothian expand your toolbox with the items you don't have on hand. You can rent a tool and return it when you're finished. If it turns out the rental tools would be more useful than you thought, we have used tools available for purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Tame the Bushes and Lawn Early
Greet the spring with outdoor power equipment rentals and whip the yard into shape again. Neaten the yard with a rental lawn mower and leaf blower rental, the trees and hedges with a chainsaw, and the driveway with a pressure washer. Your outdoor oasis will be ready for new spring flowers before you know it.
Add Insulation When the Weather is Cooler
For a more energy-efficient home, update your insulation in the spring — before it gets dangerously hot in the attic. Rent specialized equipment for insulation to get it installed correctly. Decide between a fiberglass blower or a cellulose insulation blower, and get those nooks and crannies insulated well. It'll keep the house cooler this spring and summer, then continue working year-round. You'll enjoy warmer temps in the winter, too, which can lessen electricity usage.
Rental Trucks
To move large tool rentals or anything else, we keep flatbed trucks as well as Penske moving trucks rental-ready — with availability varying by store. We'll have the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your source for packing, DIY, and storage, it's simple to make us your source for transport and moving as well.

How do I rent trucks or tools?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which trucks or tools you can rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. You could also read our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is carried at your store. For more information on renting tools, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
How long can I rent tools?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project faster than planned, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call your rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a box truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before selecting a vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the fuel level when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the rental vehicle, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
