Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

What types of moving boxes do you carry?
Make moving or storage easier by picking up an assortment of moving boxes. We've got the sizes you need, including specialty ones like TV and wardrobe boxes. Cushion any and all items with moving blankets and bubble cushion to ensure your belongings make it to your next location safely. Remember to check out our rental moving trucks if you need those, too.
Do I need a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether dealing with severe thunderstorms, snowstorms tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When exploring different generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
What home repairs should I make sooner rather than later?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by replacing any broken or faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could have problems. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water leak in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams if you're prone to frozen precip as the seasons change. Check cinder block and brickwork for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, swap out chimney caps and vinyl siding if they're damaged.
Do you have doorbell cameras?
Enjoy peace of mind, safety, and privacy with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a window or peephole when you can watch human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Most cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you flexible and easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
