I've never had a negative experience at the Wentzville Home Depot. The store is always clean, the staff is always courteous and helpful and it's usually a pleasant experience.
Today, I went in only expecting to look at and research a mower. However, after meeting Rob and his answering all my questions, sharing additional details, and giving me suggestions for post-purchase care, I decided to make the purchase. Then, the assistance I received from the Customer Support desk (Miranda S.) during the purchase process was top-notch. Its experiences like today that keep me coming back to this store.

We had an experience with the Customer Service Department helping us to figure out a store credit situation that was done on an order cancelled over the phone. It was a little bit complicated. The ladies that helped us out were super nice, they never got frustrated with the situation, and they did not give up until it was figured it. They were awesome!

Pro Desk Salesman- 8/10/2020
- I was at Home Depot for 3 hours today for one order!!
- walk in store, up to pro desk and Ronald (RKV471) looks at me and says "you need something?" I say "yessir, need to put together an order"
- he nods and ignores me staring at computer for 10 minutes
- he then says "ok, what do you need?". I say "lumber for a deck". Immediate response from him was "oh man, we don't have any wood"
- He then asks if I went to the back and checked Home Depot's inventory (i think that is his job), he asks me briefly what's on my list and as I run down list he says "we don't have ANY of that"
- i said "really? That sounds almost impossible". He says "ok lets go look". we go to the back to lumber dept to "check inventory" together and yes, Home Depot had all the materials I needed.
- we got the order placed into the computer, he asked for the customers phone number. I had to take a 3 minute phone call so I walked away for 3 minutes and was grabbing some of the smaller materials. When I came back he ignored me for another 15 minutes. Some sort of acknowledgement would have been nice such as "hey, be right back with you man" or something along those lines. After 15 minutes of being ignored he turned to me, shrugged his shoulders and with an attitude said "we lost the order, you walked away!" I then asked why he didn't save the order. He said because of me, "you didn't give me the phone number!" I asked why he couldn't have put any number down to save it for 3 minutes. He shook his head at me angrily and said "we have to do it all over again!"
- so, he enters the order into the system for the second time and I make sure not to answer any business calls so he doesn't get distracted or screw up again. I asked at the beginning when the earliest delivery date/time would be for my order. He said, "oh, there's no deliveries until next week". At this point he has lied to me several times and I don't believe anything that he says. So, Before I have him call my customer I ask, "can we please double check delivery dates/times and see if there are any earlier days/times available anywhere?" He syas "Ok" with a roll of his eyes and proceeds to fake check delivery. He clicked the buttons to make it appear to me that he cannot check delivery schedule and I just have to take his word for it. Comical, right?
- He then called my customer and completed the payment processing for the order.
- He looks at me and says "you're all set". I said "do you need me to tell you what I'm hauling today and what I can haul tomorrow since there is no delivery option?" He says "No, go ahead and take the ticket back to the guys working in lumber and they will help you pull and load". I have never had to do that once! Every pro member I have ever worked with will order a pull list for the lumber guys and have them pull it for me.
- I've put thousands of orders in at the home depot service and pro desks over the last decade. Most of my issues in the home depot stores over the years have been minimal and have had little to no impact on my day. This guy was totally rude and disrespectful from the moment he laid eyes on me.
- My belief is he is using the "inventory glitch" in the computer to turn away customers that may not know better than to trust what the employee you hired to represent your company is telling them! He saw that I was a younger man and tried to take advantage of that. Thinking I was ignorant in the processes of home depot, he was literally doing everything in his power to avoid doing any work whatsoever!
- Thankfully, I've been doing this for a long time and I wasn't buying into any of the lies he was telling. He literally told me that all the wood on the shelves in lumber was already ordered and being prepared for delivery to other customers! I happen to know that when an order is paid for at the store it is pulled, wrapped, labeled and placed in the middle of isles for delivery or pickup. This guy is the most manipulative and dishonest employees I've EVER encountered at a reputable store. I also believe that when I refused to accept his lies about the products on the shelves not being available he intentionally deceived me about the delivery so that I would be forced to haul all these materials myself. He almost had me as i gave up and said fine I'll make multiple trips and haul it myself because I'm tired of being here. He even went so far as to tell me to go rent a trailer from NuWay to haul them! Instead of promoting or trying to sell the rental of the flatbed trucks that home depot has for rent for the same purposes!
- But I took a breather to think in my truck and realized it was just more lies from him and I needed honest answers immediately. My customer and my project depended on it. I went back inside and straight back to lumber to inquire what the pro guys problem was. They all agreed that he has a bad attitude and is a jerk to them and customers. There was a young man named Mitch that immediately jumped at the task of getting every delivery question I had answered! Him and the other lumber/building material guys were sooooo helpful and apologetic for the jerk and just kind throughout the rest of my situation, from loading to separating entire order that was pulled. Mitch got right on the computer and made multiple calls to anyone he could to find answers. That kid is a real go getter! Love his attitude! He brought me up to the customer service side to sort out the rest of this mess with Lisa, I believe the service manager. She also was very apologetic and appalled by Ron's behavior. I told all the workers I came in contact with that I understand that coming in and putting these orders and deliveries together takes time and I knew that coming in so I was very prepared to be patient. What I refuse to accept is the misleading, dishonesty, lies and down right disrespect that Ron showed me throughout our entire interaction! He acted as if I was inconveniencing him the whole time! And just think that if he tries that with seasoned contractors, then he is definitely pushing away tons of other customers that don't know any better just to avoid doing the work he was hired to do! If it had worked on me, home depot would've lost out on a $2,000 order today. Not to mention how many others he pushed out the door before and after me! This man is costing the home depot lots of money! He doesn't deserve the position he has and I know for a fact that there are more intelligent people fit for the job. I will not let this go until this man is relieved of his duties at the home depot. I am disgusted every time I think about how he treated me!
