A: Almost half the capacity
A: Hello, Thanks for your question! The standard chimney starter hold about 95 - 100 standard briquettes. The compact chimney starter holds about 50 standard briquettes. Thanks!
A: I would say at least half the capacity of the full size chimney starter if not a bit smaller.
A: Compact is 1/3 the capacity of regular.
A: it's too small
A: Hi! Thanks for your question! Depending on the weather conditions it will take about 10-15 minutes before the coals are ready to be poured into the grill and then another 10-15 minutes before the grill will heat up to 500 degrees.
A: depends upon how much and type of charcoal. If full, and allowed to whiten, then 30min
A: Depends on how full and I always have fresh charcoal on bottom with leftover charcoal on top. All fresh is faster due to better air flow.
A: Seems to take right around 15 minutes to be ready for me, and I always load the thing to the max with the charcoals.
A: It takes about 15 minutes for the coals to be ready in the chimney, then after being placed in your small grill with the lid down, it takes about 20 minutes for your grill to be ready to cook food.
A: Wad up one large piece of newspaper into the bottom of the chimney - no starter fluid. Fill the top of the chimney with charcoal. Lift up the chimney and light the newspaper. Set the chimney down in the bottom of the grill and wait about 15 minutes for charcoal to light fully - it may take more or less time for the charcoal to be ready depending on a lot of things, so check it frequently after about 10 minutes. Once the charcoal lights fully - just a little bit of dark still remaining on the top charcoal pieces - dump the charcoal into the grill. Put the cooking grate on the grill and let the charcoal heat it for about 3 minutes. Time to cook. This compact chimney is for small grills. Buy the bigger chimney for larger grills or you won't have enough charcoal to cook with.
A: You will stick some coals and some newspaper into the starter and then light it with a fire source such as a lighter or matches.
A: Fill larger end with charcoal, crumple up newspaper and put in smaller end and ignite with lighter or match place on grill grate or heat resistant surface until charcoals are lit
A: Hello, Thanks for your question! Fill the chimney starter with the desired amount of charcoal, then place a lighter cube or newspaper underneath the chimney starter and light it. Make sure to place the chimney starter onto the charcoal grate of your grill when lighting it. We have a great blog explaining how to use our Chimney Starter here: http://www.weber.com/weber-nation/blog/how-to-use-a-chimney-starter. Thanks!
A: With the chimney upside down, stuff a crumpled up sheet of newspaper, paper bag or any paper into the chimney under the grate of the chimney and turn the chimney upright and place in the grill where the charcoal goes. With the chimney setting upright in your grill and the paper stuffed under the chimney grate, fill the chimney with charcoal. Light the paper with a match or two and that is it. Once the flames start coming out the chimney in approximately 10 to 15 minutes or so, dump the charcoal using the handle of the chimney. CAUTION: It is advisable to wear heat proof gloves and shoes to avoid getting burned by the hot ashes that may fall through your grill.
