Horrible do not buy!!!!! Id leave it a zero if I could this will make a 20 minute survey job turn into a 4 hour job any day of the week. Good luck for anyone purchasing this.

Disappointed to say the least. Bought to run fencing and pulled it out about half way a few times, seemed to work ok. First time using it at length the cheap plastic gears all failed inside the crank when I started reeling it in. Wound up less than half way when it broke. ALL of the gear posts broke off on the first retraction, unfixable.

Didn't have it longer than 3 months broke at a bad spot

Saw a 2 pack of this tape on sale before Christmas. Assumed that was the reason it was so cheap. DeWalt is usually fairly well made. Turns out these are not at all. Same as other reviews, the slide that locks the tape out is made of cheap plastic. With minimal use and being careful, it broke within probably 6 months. I finally took it apart to see what happened and realized the slide that provides tension to hold the tape was just cheap plastic that had broken.

I really like the look, feel, and function of this tape measure. However, the clip bent within 2 weeks of purchase. As a contractor, if the clip doesn't work then the tape measure is worthless. That's the reason for the 3 star rating.

Hot garbage. Went to measure the height of the pillars in front of my house. Wouldn’t retract afterwards. Just stuck. Wouldn’t go back in.

Great product for the price tag!! Usually one of their tape measures are like 22-35$ and I’m a huge DeWalt buff. The sales that started this past week have sent me on the deep end lol. I dropped almost 2 bands on all of their sales however I will admit I got amazing savings as well!!!

Used this twice in a warehouse on flat concrete. It reeled in the first time with no issues but as I tried to reel it the 2nd time it just broke. I didn't realize it until then that the handle and reel portion is all plastic (probably the reason it failed).

IT DOES NOT SHOW FRACTIONS!!!! The photos and descriptions are wrong. Do not buy if you want a tape that shows fractions. You will have to waste your time returning them. I have servel tape measures from DeWalt that show fractions and have been trying to get more. The last 8 that we have ordered have said that they show fractions. NONE of them have and all had to be returned

I purchased this in Sept. 2020. I used it twice on small, easy home projects. Went to use it yesterday Oct. 16, and it kept retracting. It won't lock/hold anymore. I'm bummed. Very disappointing. I wrote to Sherri over at DeWalt today. Waiting to hear back from her. I will update this after I hear back from DeWalt.

Same issue as others. First one stopped holding. I didn’t understand why. Exchanged it for another at the store and with occasional use the same thing happened but this time the friction-lock tab completely broke off. Will try taking it back. I love Dewalt but this is subpar

Several weeks of light use... internal tape locking mechanism snapped off, now tape just retracts all the time... no I don't have the receipt anymore... $16 down the toilet, shame I actually liked the size, weight, etc, etc... don't buy.

We bought one from The Home Depot and on the first use the planetary gears in the rewind crank sheared off. Took it back to The Home Depot thinking it was defective and they kindly gave us a replacement. Planetary gears sheared off the replacement after 4 uses this time. Not going to try to get a replacement because we just don't want one

The photos and product specs show “fractional read blade.” Actual product doesn’t have fractions.

Great tape

Bought this tape today from HomeDepot. I will not buy another one. I pulled it out and reeled in back in (walking to the tape every time) 2 times the 3rd time it broke and won’t reel back in.

The 16' tape and the 30' tape both show the fractions in the pictures on here. The 25' tape doesn't show it in the pictures...but some of the reviews showed the fractions. I ordered the 25' tape online for pickup in store. Guess what: no fractions. Sorry, I don't really need them. But anymore when I interview someone, I'm surprised they can read. Let alone read fractions within an inch. Sorry, this one's going back to the store.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this for a project of building a shed. It was great. I could reach 10 feet without it breaking over. It's a little heavy on the hip but for reaching 30 feet it's great. Retracts smoothly and easy to read

I use a tape measure hundreds of times a day. I dont have a problem witht he tape itself, I do have a problem with the pocket clip. I own 6 of these tapes and they all do the same thing. As you clip and unclip it from your pocket the little screw comes loose, on every single one of them. I was using one yesterday as I was doing tile work on a shower, I had to tighten the screw 7 or 8 times in one day. I have alot of Dewalt tools as it is my preferred brand, but these tape measure drive me crazy!

As others mentioned, the slider lock failed after less than 2 months of light use at home. Too bad, as the tape and body are good quality.

The plastic gears for faster rewind were destroyed in the first use. Wasn't even able to rewind it.

Excelente producto

The lock is a little tough, that's my only gripe. I like how it has the fractions right there on the tape. The 10 foot standout claim is pretty exact. Built tough.

Dewalt tape is one of the better measuring Tapes out there. Good recoil,number legibility And priced right. Does rust over time and numbers will Wear.

a little on the cheap side but does the job. what I expected for $20
