Poorly Designed Dryer: 1 to 2 Years Before it Doesn’t Work
I’m one of those crazy people that didn’t mind special ordering this premium dryer because this is the only full sized heat pump dryer available in the US. In theory a heat pump dryer is supposed to use about half the electricity compared to a typical electric dryer. You will not see that performance for more than 6 months on this dryer because the lint filtration allows lint to get past the filters and into the heat exchanger. I read the reviews about how this model and the previous generation model had this issue. I figured most people don’t actually follow the cleaning procedure of cleaning the primary filter every time and the secondary after every 4 uses at which point you vacuum any lint in that access area in front of the heat exchanger. I cleaned both filters and vacuumed the access area every single use and in one year’s time the heat exchanger was completely clogged from what I can see in the access area with no way to get the lint out! I guess you can completely and I mean completely disassemble the dryer and use a pressure washer to clean out the heat exchanger once per year. Who has the money or expertise and time to do that once per year? Once the heat exchanger starts to get clogged any efficiency advantage over a traditional dryer goes out the window. Let it get clogged enough and it won’t even dry the clothes at all. After only 2 years of use this dryer is now unusable. How is that good for the environment? Such a waste of money. If Whirlpool knew the lint filters didn’t actually filter out all of the lint, they could have designed it so that the heat exchangers are sealed away from any other electronics and very easy to access to clean out with a hose once per year. If this is how the company designs a premium product, imagine how poorly made the more budget line products must be. Needless to say I’d stay away from this and any other offerings from Whirlpool.

        Never works been 6 months
1 month after purchase it has not worked without having to wait 30 minutes to cool down. The store did not want to return it I had to go through the manufacturer. Then one day I just started working on problems now it's doing it again this is and was the biggest waste of my money I have ever gotten from HD. I buy a lot of products now I need a dryer badly and do not have a laundromat even close to me. getting a repair person from the service contract I had to purchase the warranty was now manufacture it will take a month unless I pay out of pocket for the repair. now I have to buy a new one and out 1400 + $. The buttons are hard to push the Dryer shuts down plus it takes 5 times to keep pushing dry for a 1hr 24 min

Installation was terrible. This should have been easy as the new dryer was a warranty replacement. ffThe installers insisted on using the regular feet instead of transferring the stacking feet from the old to the new dryer. The user manual specifically states not to use the regular feet in a stacked configuration. I had to do it myself.

          We needed a ventless dryer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We live in an older house with some weird things going on in our basement, and as such cannot vent our dryer without doing some heavy duty renovating. I was tired of all the lint everywhere with our old dryer, we tried a lot of solutions for it but none of them worked. After researching a bit, we landed on this dryer, and so far we’re quite happy with it. True, it takes a bit longer to dry a load, but so far that hasn’t been an issue. It’s a fair trade for being ventless. The things I have the most difficulty with are sheets - they tend to get knotted up into a ball where the outside is dry, but the inside is still damp. Be aware that you need a floor drain or for the dryer to be near a utility sink, since the water from the condensation needs somewhere to go. Also, my 12 year old says there’s a high pitched whining sound while it’s running, but my ears are old and it doesn’t bother me, especially from the basement. Young kids have really sharp ears. There are 2 filters that need to be cleaned, one is the normal one and one is the one that only gets cleaned every 5 loads. The dryer tells you when this needs to happen, which is nice. We’ve only had this dryer a short time, but so far it’s worked great for us.

            Complete Waste of Money
Our dryer is ~16 mos old and we've had problems with it from Day 1. The hose that disburses water from the dryer continues to leak and has ruined surrounding carpet and wood floors multiple times (yes, multiple times). The dryer will turn itself off even though clothes are still very damp - even on a timed, manual cycle. And just recently we're getting this F9E2 error, which has to do something with wiring. Basically the appliance refuses to do what it's supposed to do, dry clothes. In all my years living with various appliances never had I had this much trouble with a single appliance.

Best option for heat pump dryer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is basically the only option for a heat pump dryer electric dryer. It’s pretty decent, takes abt an hour and half per load, sometimes need to add time dry because the sensor isn’t accurate. But it’s nice and big and best option for my apt.

Great dryer, until it fails after a year.
The dryer is great initially, it is very gentle on clothes and saves power, however there is a major design flaw with the lint filter system. The secondary lint filter is very poorly made and will allow lint into the condenser coil area. This area is not accessible and cannot be cleaned by the end user. Lint will slowly accumulate here AND make its way into the water reservoir and clog up the pump. This will eventually give you an F2 E9 error, and the dryer will not work. Except hundreds and hundreds of repair costs for a unit that will always have problems due to bad design. Unfortunately there isn’t another option for a large capacity ventless dryer, but you are probably better off with a unit from another brand that allows you to clean the condensing coils (GE has one that slides out for deep cleaning, but it is a 24” unit).

                  Full Size Heat Pump Dryer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Slower than conventional dryer. Good thing is the dryer does not put as much heat into your close to dry them. First dryer came in broken and repair person did not know how to fix it. Whirlpool had to send me a second dryer which is working well.

                      Keeps shutting down the cycle
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Right after the dryer was installed, it shuts the cycle down after every few seconds, and one has to keep climbing down to open the door and close it again to restart the cycle. It has been harrowing so far to use such an expensive dryer. Tech said the motherboard has to be changed, guess what the part is not available. Why are these devices not tested well before delivery? How can whirlpool help fix this asap?

Easy to use. Dries the clothes perfectly.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My old dryer was located in the middle of the finished basement. The dryer vent cleaners could not clean the clogged vent hose because it was old and not up to code. What to do? Tear apart the walls and ceiling to put in a new hose??? That's when we first heard about ventless dryers! The perfect solution to our problem. We are VERY pleased with our new ventless dryer!

                          Love the Ventless
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We really needed a ventless dryer and this one fit the bill. The only complaint I have is the way the lint trap was constructed. It catches clothes. It's not broke, it's the design that has a gap and with the way the clothes spin, they catch. We put vent tape over the gap and it seems to work.

Failure after 1 year few months!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased my dryer June 2021 with a warranty. In October the dryer stopped running after a few minutes with an error code that was addressed in the manual as "call service". I called Whirlpool and they had no factory-authorized repair companies in my area! The insurance company said they'd reimburse me after getting estimates from another company to for them to authorize the repairs. We only found one company that would come to our house to repair this dryer - no one has experience with it. I am very unhappy, I chose Whirlpool for its reputation and being an American company. It is now January and I am still without a dryer. Did I say UNHAPPY? And ANGRY.

Somewhat adequate at first but now awful
We purchased this ventless dryer in Sept 2021. We have laundered 100's of loads. We almost always clean both filters as indicated but dry times are still 2, 3 or more times as long as our old electric vented model. We have 8 people in our household and laundry time is now typically literally all day and into the night, even with just three loads. We are extremely disappointed in the drying ability of this machine and do not recommend purchasing it.

long drying time & required too much lint cleaning
Very disappointed! It requires so much of lint cleaning of 2 separate filters each time and it takes so long to dry clothes. For example, it takes more than 2 hours for towels. Now I see some lint/dust sticking onto the compressor which not reachable, it'll slow down dry time if it's not cleaned. I have to have a professional cleaning technician for the compressor which won't cover by warranty and expensive. Not worth it.

                                    too much lint cleaning required
I strongly regret that I purchased this ventless dryer. It require too much "lint cleaning" from 2 separate filters every time, and each time I have to use my cordless vacuum to remove lint from the filter and to reach the back of it, located front of compressor. After used this dryer for 7 months, I see some lint build up on the compressor which require a professional clean service. That's too much! As other people say, the entire laundry room get so hot like sauna and also it takes long time to dry clothes.I wish I can trade in this dryer for regular one. It need high maintenance and not worth to have for the family of 5 which have lots of laundry. Very disappointed.

I purchased this dryer and less than a year from owning it, the dryer shuts off with E2-F9 codes, repairman has been out twice, seems as though the dryer interior vent allows fine particles of lint to escape into the dryer unit. I clean my dryer lint area at least every two days when I vacuum my floors, I vacuum the lint catch as well. Only two people in my household. This is going to be an on going problem, think again before buying!

Drum will stop turning mid cycle randomly within two weeks of use. Got repair guy out, but there’s no error code triggered by the problem and terrible idea to take apart the whole thing if you can’t even identify the problem on spot. Also very noisy. Both reviews and repair guy compare it to a refrigerator. You’d return a refrigerator that was this loud. This is the only full-size ventless dryer on the market so we’re stuck with it. This is what monopolies do.

I purchased this dryer for a new home. I specifically bought this because I wanted an American made product. I also live in a semi rural area. I have used this dryer no more than 5 times in the course of 1 year as I am still in the process of moving to my new home. One week before the warranty expired the dryer failed. I called Whirlpool and after almost 20 days have finally been told whirlpool cannot arrange a repair and I need to take of this myself. Do not waste your money.

                                            THE ADVENTURE BEGINS
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Changing to a HP dryer has been a goal and it's time has come for us. We made a quick reference sheep, laminated, and placed it next to the machine for quick reference. So far we are impressed and are waiting for the three and six month review of data to compare power use. The items do smell better and are softer with the HP method. The front panel is a wee bit sensitive as several times we have brushed against it and it has activated. The adventure continues...

So far this dryer has exceeded our expectations. Larger loads do require a little more time to dry, but other than that, drying time is accurate to the time set on the control screen. We have had it for a little over a month now and no issues.

Works well with the right settings, takes time
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The ventless style works well for my brick home and the heat pump technology saves me money. It's worth the extra care at selecting settings and extra time for dry laundry IMO.
