I think it would be helpful if the people working the self checkout were self-aware enough to understand the way things are implied to work via layout. Since there are 4 self-checkout registers with 2 lanes each, it is implied that there are 2 lines, one for each lane of register. This is how it is in any store that has more than one lane of self-checkout. On top of that, the right lane of self checkout appears like it's sharing the lane with register 7, so it's impossible to know who is waiting for what. So for a customer to get into what they perceive is the left lane for the two left self-checkouts, have the cashier stare at them the entire time they are waiting in line, and then take someone else from the right lane of self-checkouts to use the now vacant checkout on the left lane, is quite an annoying and frustrating experience. Cashier: you SAW me standing in the left lane, waiting. You SAW me asking people behind me if they were waiting in line. Not once did you inform me that there was some randomly constructed line that was supposed to be for all four lanes of self-checkout. Instead only after you took physically directed someone else and I asked "oh, is that line for all four registers?" did you say "yes, there's a line." A little clarity would have been nice and saved me the frustration, but you'd rather just stare at me blankly as I wait, assuming I am attempting to cut the line, and passive aggressively do what you perceive as "taking care of" the situation. Good one. Thanks for all your help! On top of that is the usual Home Depot garbage - not enough people in the departments, so there's never anyone around to help. The visit prior to this one I asked a person in the plumbing department for help after walking up and down the aisles for over 20 minutes looking for an item, and he rudely held a finger up to me and said "WAIT A MINUTE". I promptly put all of my things back. Incompetent people at the service desk half of the time. I'll never forget the time I spent almost an hour trying to return an item at the service desk because the woman working there couldn't figure out what was going on. Best course of action for buying things at Home Depot is to check the website first, get the exact in store location before going in, and know EXACTLY what you are looking for before heading in there.

Lucien is a great employee who pleasantly helps with loading heavy and bulky items with a smile. Only thing wrong is HD doesn't allow you to tip exemplary service so the staff has to turn it down.
